Uranus in Gemini

2026 New Year Blessings! What's in Store for the Months Ahead

Every January, I think of the words of a Grateful Dead song, “The wheel is turning and you can’t slow down…” Where do we see a fresh start for our wheel moving forward? Where do we see planetary shifts and changes? For this month’s cosmic weather report, let’s briefly look at the next few weeks and then spend most of our time taking into account 2026 and the months ahead of us.

January begins with a Full Moon in Cancer, out of bounds (at extreme declination), 13°01’, January 3rd, 2:02 am Pacific time. Sun is conjunct Venus 12°14’ and Mars 14°32’ Capricorn, both planets also out of bounds. Passions may fly when it comes to nurturing those most close to us. We may feel the need to protect family or take action and responsibility in expressing our love. Watch out for a need for too much control. Love takes dedication and persistence, but compassion and kindness balance well with duty and obligation. On January 18th, the New Moon at 28°43’ Capricorn, 11:51 am, conjuncts Mercury, Venus and Mars, so we continue to build upon Capricorn themes of “climbing a mountain” by devoting hard work and patience to achieving our goals.

Slow-moving Neptune reenters Aries January 26th and Saturn also reenters Aries February 13th. The two form a conjunction 00°45’ February 20th. Last summer and fall, they were very close, but not exactly together. Somewhere in our lives we are asked to be spiritual warriors, but there may be some challenges to being able to lead or take initiative. How to assert ourselves in the right way may seem hard to pinpoint. Just “a little bit further than you’ve gone before.” Meanwhile, it benefits us to be selfish in terms of our own spiritual or creative needs. On a global scale, expect more expressions of military might, possibly delusional or with unclear motives. The best way forward is to fight the “good” fight, not for ego’s sake, but for the greater benefit of all.

Uranus reenters Gemini April 25th at 5:51 pm. The planet of sudden revelations, upset, revolution and innovation briefly entered Gemini last July through early November before returning retrograde to Taurus. Now Uranus will remain in Gemini for seven years until 2032-33. The planet’s shift into Gemini, characterized by curiosity, exchange of information and learning, leads into radical new inventions and solutions to world problems. Expect some exciting new writing. Uranus is in range of a sextile to Saturn, Neptune (exact July 15th) and a trine to Pluto in Aquarius (exact July 17th and November 29th ). Seek fresh perspectives when imagining how to make your dreams real.

Jupiter, the “king of the gods,” tends to expand and bring new opportunities. June 29th Jupiter enters Leo and remains in the sign until late July, 2027. Ask: “How have I been underestimating myself in terms of my creative expression, play, generosity or leadership? Where do I need to roar and be seen?” Look to see where the sign of the lion falls in your chart. Roll the dice on you and allow yourself to receive applause!

Jupiter in Leo

By July 20th, Jupiter in Leo trines Neptune 04°22’ Aries and opposes Pluto in Aquarius, 04°26’, then sextiles Uranus 04°37’ Gemini on the 21st.  Some may speak out if they feel they are NOT being fully appreciated and may act willfully to get their way. A good moment to reflect upon our own wounds that make us feel not seen nor loved. On August 31st, Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn, retrograde, in Aries, 13°41’. True leaders and artists know when to act and when to be mature when seeking praise. The best “art” requires hard work and initiative.

In the fall, Venus turns retrograde at 08°29’ Scorpio October 3rd  (until November 13th). Pluto stops in the sky to move direct, 03°04’ Aquarius, October 15th, Venus in an exact square the 19th. Those impacted by Pluto moving in early Aquarius throughout 2025-2027, may find this Venus retrograde time useful by going to deep levels of intimacy to reveal psychological wounds. Pluto wants to free you of old patterns and move you into a more authentic place. “Bound to cover just a little more ground!”

July's Cosmic Weather: Inspiration! Move Me Brightly

Summer greetings, Santa Cruz stargazers. July continues to bring some challenging moments ripe for personal growth, but also some possible tension. The month starts with Jupiter in Cancer moving ahead in the sign, but still in range of a square to Saturn and Neptune in early Aries. This ongoing square has been rattling our world since early June. The last time Neptune, a slow-moving planet, was in Aries was during the American Civil War. As I mentioned in a previous article, delusions of military might are on the table. It is tempting to make my July report about worldly events. Instead, I’ll work on the microcosmic level and see if I can offer best ways to make the most of July’s current sky.

On July 4th, Neptune stops in the sky to station retrograde (Saturn turns retrograde July 12th). The two planets have a lot of strength now. Meanwhile Venus enters Gemini also on July 4th, triggering a desire to exchange ideas, talk through solutions and find ways to use our voice in being spiritual warriors in defense of what is most meaningful for us. Let’s hope for a peaceful birthday party for our divided nation. “Wave that flag, wave it wide and high…”

Inspiration from Uranus in Gemini

The big news this month is Uranus, planet of revolution and sudden change, entering the sign Gemini, July 7th, 12:45 am Pacific time. Uranus will be in Gemini until November 7th when it moves for several months back into Taurus while retrograde. Late April, 2026, Uranus reenters Gemini until 2032-33. A major planetary shift, Uranus in Gemini brings shocking revelations, creative technical innovation and radical ideas or solutions. The last time Uranus was in Gemini was between 1941 and 1949, a period noted for the development of the atomic bomb.

Be proactive with the Uranian potential for upset and change by looking and seeing where the planet is moving in your natal chart. Here you may find yourself yearning for freedom, for fresh perspectives and for claiming your own radical mindset. You benefit from thinking outside the box. An idea may come to you on how to break free. “Give me five, I’m still alive. Ain’t no luck, I learned to duck!”

The Full Moon in Capricorn at 18°50’ occurs July 10th at 1:36 pm. We take stock of the “mountain” we are climbing, the masterpiece we are working to build. Low road is to project too much control. Try instead to create strategies that work. This Moon is “out of bounds” at extreme declination. Be unconventional in your plans. Mars in Virgo says be practical about what needs effort to fine-tune. How can you be of service? The Full Moon makes a supportive aspect to the nodes of the Moon. Be real about what skills you have and visualize how to help in a compassionate way to make a difference in the larger collective.

Mercury turns retrograde at 15°34’ Leo, July 17th, 9:44 pm. Look to see where mid-degrees of Leo fall in your natal chart. Here you might reevaluate how you are using your creative side or ask yourself if you are looking for too much praise or applause. Maybe it’s your generosity or artwork that counts.

Sun enters Leo July 22nd, 6:29 am. Time to shine and share your creative gifts, have the courage to be on stage or lead with a big generous heart. Cherish those around you and give plenty of praise. Leo season is a time for joyful play and expressions of our love for one another.

July 24th, a New Moon in Leo, 02°08’, 12:11 pm, is a great time to set an intention: where do I need to replenish my soul? Revel in creative juju? Where do I need to lead or take center stage? A powerful New Moon, both luminaries form a supportive trine (120°) to Aries Saturn and Neptune, sextile Uranus in Gemini and oppose Pluto in Aquarius. In a nutshell, these other planetary players suggest dealing with a possible crisis in leadership or freedom. Where have you been sacrificing too much of yourself? What needs to transform for you to be truly authentic? “Shine your shoes, light the fuse…Can you use them old U.S. Blues?”
