Warm August days are upon us and how appropriate for the final weeks of Leo season! We cherish each other with some good ol’ fashion summer fun and joy. The month starts out with Venus in Cancer at 01°37’ forming a square with Saturn retrograde in Aries at 6:34 am Pacific time, August 1st. Venus then follows with a square to Neptune retrograde at 1:48 pm. There may be some part of our world where we are trying too hard to take the initiative and put ourselves out there, when some of it simply involves letting go. Allow yourself time to create a vision for how to proceed. Venus in Cancer suggests finding the love and nurturing support of family and those most close to us in making that vision happen.
Mars, planet of will and action, enters Libra August 6th at 4:23 pm. Libra is a sign that seeks balance and beauty. Just think of the scales bringing harmony between two sides. Negotiation is the ticket. With Mars in the sign, creative collaboration is the high road, especially August 8th and 9th when the fiery red planet trines Uranus at 01°07’ Gemini and opposes Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Think of Jerry Garcia singing the lyrics of Loose Lucy, “She’s my yo-yo, I’m her string, listen to the birds on the hotwire sing!” With mercury retrograde in Leo now too, this cosmic moment encourages recognizing all at the table as a means to best lead the band. In order for each of us to be Aries pioneers and spiritual warriors, we have to creatively work as a team.
On August 9th, we have a Full Moon at 16°59’ Aquarius at 12:55 am. What a great lunar time to bring innovative ideas and humanitarian values forward. Time to let your radical side shine. What have you been thinking about that might be revolutionary and how might these quirky kinds of thoughts be about your freedom to be you? Two days later, on August 11th, Mercury stops in the sky to move direct at 04°14’ Leo at 12:29 am. The planet of insight and communication opposes Pluto in Aquarius, same sign as the Full Moon. Look to see where these planets are traveling in your natal chart. Some may feel tension between needing to feel loved and respected and seen on one side, while also trying to figure out how to feel free and authentic. Watch out for the low road of selfish behavior, desiring your way but also shutting down when you don’t get it.
August 11th Saturn retrograde 01°12’ sextiles Uranus in Gemini, while Venus in Cancer, 14°03’, conjuncts Jupiter. A great day for just letting the fun happen and enjoying the company of those we love. Watch out and don’t eat too much barbeque! Venus and Jupiter together are setting the stage for “Thank you! For a real good time”… People can over indulge in a big way! Meanwhile Saturn and Uranus hold potential for exchanging interesting ideas and making them real.
Sun enters Virgo at 1:33 pm August 22nd. The New Moon follows at 00°23’ Virgo at 11:06 pm. The sign of the virgin is about seeking perfection, striving to be the best at what you do, serving others and developing a skill set to be a gifted craftsperson. Set intentions to be that master. Be grounded and see where you can hone your practice, and put in the 10,000 hours. The New Moon squares Uranus in early Gemini. Let your mind think outside the box on how you can accomplish this.

Near the end of the month, Venus enters Leo, August 25th, and follows by making supportive aspects (angles) to Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, ending with an opposition to Pluto August 26th. What a creative time to be on fire with your imagination and boldly going into some new terrain with your art, music or writing, or simply anyway you shine as an artist. On August 28th, exact at 5:08 pm, Neptune in Aries 01°26’ sextiles Uranus in Gemini. This aspect is in orb (range) all month. Dream big and allow your creative juice to come from somewhere else.
